We arrived around 11.20am (it opened at 11.30am) and there was already quite a long queue to get in. O, E and I had all skipped breakfast so we were starving!
We immediately headed for the food after being seated. My plan was to try small servings of everything but there were a lot of options so I couldn't fit everything on my plate!
Those were the only mains that I ended up trying. Some of the dishes that I remember skipping were the butter rice, ham, lamb, party pies and sausage rolls. E had the ham and the lamb though and she liked it (but they were also really salty according to her) and O had the butter rice. I also skipped the salads and soup (O and I were going to go back for salads during our second round but we completely forgot).
We were all looking forward to this part of our meal as we saw the desserts when we walked into the restaurant and they looked good!
I also had some sort of apricot dessert and the chocolate mousse (after eating the caramel mousse) but I forgot to take photos. The apricot dessert was alright but I wasn't a fan of the chocolate mousse as it was bland.
There were other desserts that I didn't end up trying (such as the chocolate pudding, brownie, rice pudding, jelly and ice cream). I would love to have had ice cream and jelly but the ice cream melts straight away (E had some of the chocolate ice cream and it had already started melting before we reached our table) and the jelly looked gross because of the way people scooped it (plus there were streaks of melted ice cream on the jelly).
In terms of the service, I thought it was pretty good (they cleared your tables very quickly). However they weren't doing a very good job of keeping track of whether people were leaving their tables to get desserts or leaving the restaurant completely. When we went to get our desserts, they cleared everything on our table (we still had drinks there). Yet the tables (in which the occupants had finished their lunch and already left the restaurant), had jugs and glasses on them for more than half an hour after they had left.
In regards to the drinks, you have to go to the bar to get them. Water is free but you have to pay for everything else.
Despite the fact that I liked the pasta, spring rolls and caramel mousse, I don't think I'll ever go back to this place. Obviously you can't expect amazing quality when you're paying $18.50. So if you're looking for a cheap buffet that tastes ok, this might be the place for you.
